The Brazilian Amazon is an unforgettable land of adventure and legend. This jungle and surrounding rivers are one of the world's last great unexplored frontiers, home to the most diverse collection of wildlife and vegetation on earth. In this fabled place giant trees grow up to 200 feet tall, vast rivers snake through pristine forests, and indigenous Indians survive unaffected by the outside world.

There are two options for exploring the Rio Negro: upstream into the heart of the untouched jungle, or downstream to experience the natural phenomenon known as the "meeting of the waters."

Nicknamed "The Paris of the Jungle" there are numerous sights to see in this historic and unique city. Highlights include the elegant opera house Teatro Amazonas; the Municipal Market, modeled after Paris' famous Les Halles; and local museums.

The same activities that can be experienced from the nearby Eco-lodges and cruises can also be enjoyed from Manaus. The "Meeting of the Waters", Alligator Spotting, Jungle Trekking, and different types of fishing are all available to the adventure-seeking visitor.
